The Wind Speaks No Evil

A year has passed since Bee--once Bevy Ritter, now living under the alias "Beatrice Rathborne"--lost everything. Now, she stands to lose it all again.

Bee was forced to enter Witness Protection following a traumatic kidnapping which left her hands crushed and tongue severed. The supposed perpetrator? Her ex-fiancé, Collin. But when the U.S. Marshal assigned to her case informs her that Collin is believed to be dead--and the assailants who carried out her kidnapping, within county lines of her alias's remote cabin home--her very understanding of reality is shattered.

With no safe place to go, she has no choice but to return home in the midst of a record-breaking blizzard. Once again, her illusion of safety is broken when she finds an armed intruder in the place she once thought her safe haven.

Nico Faulkner, a deaf drug mule left stranded in the surrounding wilderness by a deal gone awry, seeks shelter from the deadly storm. That, and a clean slate from his near-fatal life choices still far from reach.

Nico knows his clock is ticking. And, whether it be his vindictive employers or hostile buyers which come back to finish the job of killing him, they won't care that the woman occupying the cabin he thought deserted is an innocent bystander--or, his estranged best friend.

It's been ten years since Nico irrevocably broke Bee's trust. Now, as they discover it is the very same crime ring hunting the both of them, she must trust him in spite of their fractured past--their survival of the present depends on it. And soon, a threat much closer to either of them than they know will scream the truth: time does not heal all wounds.

The Epilogue

The Wind Still Whispers

Fourteen months have passed since the events of The Wind Speaks No Evil.

Bevy "Bee" Ritter and Nico Faulkner live a mundane yet fulfilling life in their hometown, raising their daughter and Asa, Nico's bereaved nephew, both of whom have given them a new purpose.

But, life's shadows rarely stay sequestered to the corners.

When an unwelcome remnant of their shared trauma comes knocking on the door, the chinks in the armor they've built spiderweb into cracks. And, now that they have a young family to protect, losing the clean slate they thought they attained is the least of their worries.

In this chilling and poignant epilogue to The Wind Speaks No Evil, the conclusion of Bee and Nico's journey reminds us just how easily our buried memories can come rushing up to the surface even when everything seems to be fine--and, the gravity of forgiveness, both for others and ourselves.

Blood on the Ice

If the truth hurts, will you keep digging?

Lorrie Parker has never been late to figure skating practice. A two-time gold medalist and Olympian, her home is on the ice. So, when the first day of practice for her senior year arrives, and she does not, her pairs partner, Sterling, and childhood best friend, MJ are left scratching their heads—when they discover her dismembered body abandoned in a garbage bag outside the rink's entrance, they're left freefalling into a whole new horrid reality. Worse still, after messy fights and deep-cutting betrayals, they both possessed motive to kill her themselves.

Desperate for answers and to prove her own innocence, MJ embarks on an obsessive research mission that leads her to the name of a recently released serial killer known for his victim type—which bears an eerie resemblance to Lorrie. When Sterling tells her it's crazy to hunt the suspect herself, she offers him a deal: in exchange for helping her find Lorrie's killer, she will take her place as his skate partner.

As MJ and Sterling entangle themselves in their college town's dark past, they discover damning truths about the present life Lorrie led in her final days. Whether or not their hunger for justice will protect any future victims remains unanswered.

About E.M. Stewart

E.M. Stewart is a painfully introverted woman whose brain short-circuits when asked to share anything about herself. She was born and raised in Central Georgia, and currently lives on Florida's Space Coast with her husband and 3 cats. Her writing career began with an awful handwritten "novel" which spanned roughly 50 pages in a blue-suede covered notebook at age 11, and she has been honing her craft ever since.
